Post: Arab League to Hold Emergency Session on Palestinian Protection

Hanoi:The Council of the League of Arab States will hold an extraordinary session at the level of permanent representatives on Tuesday to explore mechanisms for providing international protection for Palestinians and ensuring adherence to international law and relevant resolutions concerning Jerusalem's legal status.

According to Qatar News Agency, the session was prompted by a request from the State of Palestine to the Arab League's General Secretariat. The focus will be on initiating Arab and international efforts in response to increasing assaults by Israeli occupation forces and armed settlers on Palestinians and their property, actions facilitated by the occupying government and its military.

Muhannad Al Aklouk, Palestine's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, stated that the request for the session comes amid systematic policies by occupation forces aimed at displacing Palestinian communities, expanding settlements, and undermining the prospects for a two-state solution. The session will also address acts of violence targeting occupied Jerusalem and its international legal status, especially in light of some countries' decisions to open embassies in the city.
