Post: Awqaf Ministry to Host Seminar on Challenges Facing the Arabic Language

Doha:The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, through its Department of Research and Islamic Studies, is set to hold the second seminar in its annual "In Clear Arabic" series on November 10 at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque. This event will gather a notable group of researchers, academics, and writers to discuss strategies for promoting the Arabic language and strengthening cultural incubators as vital platforms in this endeavor.

According to Qatar News Agency, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Thani, the Director of Research and Islamic Studies, stated that the seminar aims to tackle the important topic through three main themes. The first theme focuses on the role of cultural incubators such as mosques, schools, media, and cultural enterprises in preserving and advancing the Arabic language. The seminar will also highlight the historical and civilizational contributions of these incubators and their influence on linguistic awareness, identity, and language progress.

The second theme addresses the challenges the Arabic language faces in today's cultural environment. It seeks to identify ways to combat factors that undermine the effectiveness of cultural incubators, considering intellectual, social, and educational aspects, as well as their impact on identity and language marginalization.

The third theme will propose practical strategies for advancing the Arabic language by fostering integration among educational and cultural institutions and enhancing the role of digital media and modern platforms. Additionally, it will emphasize the importance of encouraging scientific research conducted in Arabic.

Sheikh Dr. Ahmed emphasized that this seminar is a significant contribution to a series of cultural initiatives by the Department, aiming to honor the Arabic language for its esteemed status and role in shaping identity and supporting progress in various sciences, particularly Sharia sciences. He reiterated the belief that the Arabic language serves as a foundational civilizational and intellectual incubator for the nation, as it was the medium through which the Holy Quran was revealed and the Prophet's teachings were followed.

The first seminar in this series took place in November 2025, focusing on the Arabic language's current and future prospects. The Department of Research and Islamic Studies is also committed to documenting and publishing the outcomes of each seminar to enrich Arab and Islamic libraries.
