Doha: Vice President for Academic Affairs at the Community College of Qatar (CCQ), Dr. Abdullah Al Ali, announced the introduction of three new academic programs for the current academic year. These additions include a Bachelor of Border Management and Supply Chain, an Associate Degree in Artificial Intelligence, and an Associate Degree in Digital Media.
According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Ali highlighted that these initiatives are part of CCQ's strategic efforts to meet the evolving demands of the labor market. The college is also planning to roll out additional programs in business administration, financial technology (FinTech), unmanned vehicle systems, and robotics and automation engineering technology, aiming to stay ahead of market trends and national priorities.
Dr. Al Ali explained that CCQ employs a data-driven approach to establish new academic offerings, ensuring they align with labor market needs and national objectives. This methodology includes assessing existing program performance, market demand, potential career opportunities, and the sustainability of the programs.
He emphasized the importance of annual program evaluations, which consider various indicators such as enrollment trends, student retention rates, and completion rates. These assessments guide the college in making informed decisions about whether to continue, modify, or discontinue programs.
Dr. Al Ali further noted that CCQ's approach to academic program development is flexible, allowing for the rapid introduction or suspension of programs in response to shifts in market needs. The college collaborates with various entities like the General Authority of Customs and the Ministry of Education to tailor programs that meet specific industry requirements.
He also discussed the "Academic Competence" initiative, which has attracted over 20 Qatari academics, aiming to foster national talent for future academic and leadership roles. This initiative has significantly increased the number of courses taught by Qatari faculty, highlighting the growing contribution of local talent to CCQ's educational offerings.
In terms of institutional growth, Dr. Al Ali outlined CCQ's three-year academic plan focused on expanding strategic disciplines, enhancing quality assurance, and pursuing academic accreditations. The college is committed to providing a flexible and diverse educational environment that caters to a wide range of students, including working professionals.
