Doha: HE Ambassador of the Republic of Chad to the State of Qatar, Tchonai Elimi Hassan, affirmed that the commemoration of National Day is a significant occasion for citizens and residents alike. It combines recalling the richness of the past while experiencing the present and looking forward to the future. The nationwide celebration provides an opportunity to strengthen interaction between members of Qatari society and those residing within its borders.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Ambassador of the Republic of Chad commended the active diplomatic role played by the State of Qatar regionally and internationally. He emphasized that Qatar has become a vital player in peacemaking and mediation efforts worldwide, describing Doha as a leading diplomatic hub.
His Excellency highlighted Qatar's pivotal role, particularly in mediating between the Chadian government and the opposition, through organizing the preliminary dialogue from March to August 2022. This process culminated on Aug. 8, 2022, with the signing of the Doha Peace Agreement between the Chadian government and the politico-military movements. He noted that the people and government of Chad extend boundless gratitude and profound appreciation to the State of Qatar.
His Excellency then inquired about the possibility of Qatar hosting a United Nations body dedicated to crisis resolution, given its influential role and well-established expertise in mediation.
HE Chadian Ambassador explained that Qatar is witnessing remarkable development across various sectors, noting a positive assessment of the progress achieved at all levels, positioning the country as a development model for emerging states.
Regarding bilateral relations between Qatar and Chad, His Excellency affirmed that ties are progressing well, but require further strengthening through the exchange of visits between the leaders of the two countries, the signing of new cooperation agreements in several fields, and ensuring the effective implementation of existing agreements.
