Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation with Egyptian Foreign Minister

Khartoum: Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Al Burhan met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaaty, who is on a visit to Sudan, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and addressing mutual concerns.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed Egypt's commitment to supporting Sudan's stability. He highlighted Egypt's active participation in efforts to achieve a ceasefire and alleviate the challenges faced by the Sudanese people. This support extends through bilateral engagements and participation in regional and international initiatives, particularly the Quartet.

The Foreign Minister emphasized Egypt's continuous dialogue with regional and international stakeholders to advance a comprehensive resolution to the Sudanese crisis. This resolution aims to protect Sudan's resources and meet the security and stability aspirations of the Sudanese people.

In discussions on water security, both parties underscored their unified stance as downstream countries of the Nile River. They reiterated the necessity for adherence to international law regarding the Eastern Nile Basin and firmly opposed any unilateral actions concerning the Nile River.
