Doha: China's fiscal spending recorded a 3.4% year-on-year increase, reaching nearly 14.13 trillion yuan (approximately $1.98 trillion) in the first half of 2025.
According to Qatar News Agency, financial departments at all administrative levels continued to increase spending in key areas. In particular, expenditures on social security and employment rose by 9.2% year-on-year during the period from January to June.
The ministry data also showed that spending on science and technology climbed by 9.1%, while education and healthcare spending grew by 5.9% and 4.3%, respectively.
On the revenue side, China's fiscal revenues declined by 0.3% year-on-year, totaling approximately 11.56 trillion yuan in the first half of the year.
Central government revenues amounted to around 4.86 trillion yuan, down 2.8% from the same period last year. In contrast, local governments generated approximately 6.7 trillion yuan, reflecting a 1.6% increase year-on-year.
