The Canadian national team qualified for the semi-finals of the 2024 American Football Championship (Copa America) after defeating the Venezuelan national team (4-3) on penalty kicks in the match that brought them together at dawn today in the quarter-finals of the competition.
The regular time of the match had ended in a tie (1-1), so the two teams resorted to penalty kicks, and the Canadian team took the lead with a goal scored by Jacob Schafelberg in the 13th minute, before the Venezuelan team equalized the score through Salmon Rondon in the 64th minute.
The Canadian team is set to meet Argentina in the semi-finals next Wednesday.
