DOHA: The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather warning for strong winds and high seas, forecasting relatively cold daytime conditions with slight to blowing dust inshore and scattered clouds offshore. The weather is expected to turn cold by night, with warnings of poor horizontal visibility in certain areas due to the strong winds.
According to Qatar News Agency, the inshore winds are predicted to be northwesterly, reaching speeds of 15-25 knots and gusting up to 30 knots in some areas. Offshore winds will be similarly strong, blowing from the northwest at 15-25 knots with gusts reaching 32 knots at times. The sea state is expected to be rough, with inshore waves ranging from 3 to 5 feet and offshore waves reaching 4 to 8 feet, occasionally rising to 10 feet. Visibility is anticipated to vary from 2 to 9 kilometers both inshore and offshore.
The meteorological department has advised residents and maritime operators to exercise caution, particularly in areas where wind speeds and wave heights are expected to be highest. The warnings are in effect until 6:00 pm on Thursday, with conditions likely to affect travel and outdoor activities.
