Singapore: HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani has held a series of high-level talks with Singaporean and Malaysian officials on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026 in Singapore.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Sheikh Saoud met separately on Friday with several key figures, including HE Chan Chun Sing, Singapore's Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Minister for Defense; HE Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs; HE K Shanmugam, Singapore's Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs; and HE Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Malaysia's Minister of Defense.
The discussions during these meetings centered on regional security developments, military cooperation, and joint coordination efforts amid current regional challenges. These dialogues are seen as pivotal in strengthening bilateral and multilateral defense relationships in the region.
The meetings were attended by HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Singapore Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Almalki Al Jehani, along with senior officials and military officers from both sides, highlighting the importance of these engagements in fostering strong diplomatic and defense ties.
