Dateline: Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials on Wednesday Doha's hosting of the third Qatari-Japanese strategic dialogue, co-chaired by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and HE Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers affirmed that the strategic partnership between Qatar and Japan continues each year to progress and expand, driven by the strong commitment of both nations' leaderships to advance bilateral relations. Al-Raya newspaper emphasized that the Qatari-Japanese relationship has remained a model of constructive cooperation, evolving over more than 50 years across various fields. This longstanding partnership is deeply rooted in energy and oil and gas supplies.
The editorial noted Doha's role in hosting the strategic dialogue, where discussions focused on enhancing bilateral ties in trade, economy, investment, security, defense, education, healthcare, scientific research, technology, tourism, infrastructure, and capacity building. The dialogue also addressed regional and international updates, with both countries supporting resolution of disputes through peaceful means.
Al-Raya further highlighted the strategic partnership's elevation, marking over five decades of collaboration, expanding into new areas such as security, defense, culture, education, and sports. The newspaper concluded by recognizing Qatar as a vital partner for Japan, not only in energy but across various sectors, emphasizing the importance of reliable liquefied natural gas supplies and the role of Japanese companies in Qatar's LNG infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Al-Sharq daily echoed the sentiment of a growing strategic partnership, facilitated by leadership commitment and reflected in the strategic dialogue rounds. The paper pointed out the significance of trade, economic, and investment interests as core aspects of the partnership, which have expanded recently.
Al-Sharq explained that the partnership is poised for further growth, focusing on cooperation in economy, energy, advanced technology, innovation, defense, and maritime security, aligning with shared regional stability interests. It concluded that the joint statement following the dialogue underscored the strength of bilateral relations and commitment to deepening ties further, as described by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
