Basra: The Security Media Cell (SMC) in Iraq has reported a series of incidents involving drones and a rocket strike in different regions, none of which resulted in human casualties. A drone crashed in the West Qurna-1 oilfield located in Basra Governorate, while a rocket hit a residential house in Al-Tharthar, within Anbar Governorate. Neither of these incidents led to explosions or injuries.
According to Qatar News Agency, Lieutenant General Saad Maan, head of the Security Media Cell, confirmed in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the drone crash in the West Qurna-1 oilfield occurred in an open desert area and did not cause any material damage or injuries. He also mentioned that the rocket landing in Al-Tharthar did not result in any injuries.
In a related development, Iraqi security forces successfully thwarted attempts to use explosive-laden drones for attacks in Diyala province, which is situated northeast of Baghdad. These efforts ensured that no losses were reported.
An Iraqi security source disclosed that air defenses of the international coalition intercepted an unidentified drone over Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. This interception took place amid heightened military tensions in the region. The defense systems managed to destroy the drone, which was traveling toward Erbil International Airport. The debris landed in an open area, resulting in limited material damage but no human casualties.
