Post: Earthquake of 4.7 Magnitude Hits Central Turkiye’s Sivas Province

An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck central Turkiye's Sivas Province on Thursday, according to the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD). The quake, which was registered in the city of Sivas, was at a depth of 10.57 kilometers, the AFAD said in a press release on its website. AFAD confirmed that there are no reports of casualties or damage. Malatya province, in the east of the country, was hit yesterday by a 5.9 magnitude earthquake, without any casualties. On Feb. 6, 2023, southern Turkiye and northern Syria were struck by two earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude, followed by thousands of violent aftershocks. The disaster, whose epicenter was Kahramanmaras province, claimed the lives of tens of thousands and left great destruction in 11 provinces in the country. Source: Qatar News Agency
