Egyptian FM Affirms Support for Syria’s Sovereignty at Arab League Meeting

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati discussed developments in Syria with his Syrian counterpart, Asaad Al Shaibani, in Cairo today. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 164th session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, the Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed his country's support for the unity and sovereignty of the Syrian state and its national institutions. He emphasized the importance of reaching a comprehensive political settlement that enhances stability in Syria and the region.

The Egyptian FM condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, noting that they constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. He also stressed the need to respect Syrian sovereignty and the unity and integrity of its territory.
