Doha: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty engaged in a phone conversation with Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh to discuss the evolving situation in the Gaza Strip and the increasing violence in the West Bank.
According to Qatar News Agency, the discussion centered around the UN Security Council's adoption of Resolution 2803, which addresses the situation in the Gaza Strip. The resolution includes support for proposed arrangements to deploy an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the smooth flow of aid.
Abdelatty and Al Sheikh emphasized the importance of the security arrangements being temporary and transitional. This approach aims to pave the way for the Palestinian Authority to assume full governance and security responsibilities, aligning with the principle of geographic contiguity between the West Bank and Gaza.
Both leaders agreed to maintain close consultations in the coming period to support Palestinian rights and efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in the occupied territories.
