Eight Killed, Including Defense, Environment Ministers in Ghana Helicopter Crash

Accra: Eight individuals, including the Ministers of Defence and Environment, were killed Wednesday in a military helicopter crash, the Ghanaian Presidency announced Wednesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, Chief of Staff to President John Mahama, Julius Debrah, stated that Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed were among those killed in the incident.

The Ghana Air Force clarified that the aircraft disappeared from radar while en route to the city of Obuasi, northwest of the capital, Accra.

Also among the victims were the former National Security Coordinator and former Minister of Agriculture, Haji Munir Mohammed, alongside Samuel Sarpong, Deputy Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, the party to which the President belongs.
