Athens:Six people lost their lives after an explosion led to the collapse of a residential building in the Plaka Neighborhood of central Athens.
According to Qatar News Agency, Greek authorities suspect the explosion may be linked to a gas leak, as there were reports of a gas odor in the area prior to the incident.
The blast not only destroyed the residential building but also caused damage to nearby structures, shops, and vehicles. Emergency teams are actively investigating the cause of the explosion.
Plaka is renowned for its historic significance, being one of the oldest neighborhoods in Athens and located at the foot of the Acropolis.
