Financial Information Unit Strengthens Ties with Canada’s FINTRAC

Doha: Qatar Financial Information Unit (QFIU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC), during the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Plenary and Working Group Meetings held in Paris, France.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meetings convened representatives from FATF member jurisdictions, regional bodies, and international organizations. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation and facilitate the exchange of financial intelligence and information, in alignment with the legal frameworks of both parties. This initiative is part of efforts to combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and related predicate offences.

The signing of the MoU marks a significant step in expanding QFIU's international cooperation network. It underscores the importance of collaboration with counterpart financial intelligence units worldwide, reinforcing global efforts to address financial crimes.
