Floods in Baghlan Province claim 50 lives

An Afghan Interior Ministry spokesperson reported that heavy rains in Baghlan province, northern Afghanistan, today, Friday, led to fatal floods claiming the lives of at least 50 people, predominantly women and children. The death toll is expected to increase.

Hedayatullah Hamdard, the acting head of the regional authority overseeing natural disasters, stated, “The current death toll stands at fifty, as reported by Baghlan E Markazi province hospital, with the possibility of further casualties.” He attributed the tragedy to seasonal rains causing abrupt flooding.
