Cairo: Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his German counterpart Johann Wadephul recently held a phone conversation to discuss regional developments, focusing primarily on the situation in the Gaza Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry released a statement on Monday, highlighting Abdelatty's firm rejection of the Israeli cabinet's decision to expand military operations in Gaza. He emphasized the potential threat posed by this decision, which might lead to further instability in the region.
Abdelatty called for a decisive stance against the Israeli actions and urged the European Union to take swift measures to halt the escalation. He reiterated Egypt's complete opposition to the Israeli policy of occupation and the impact it has on the Palestinian people, emphasizing the need for immediate action to prevent further deterioration.
The German Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for Egypt's ongoing efforts to mediate a ceasefire and facilitate humanitarian aid to Gaza. He also praised Egypt's initiative to host a conference aimed at the early recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. He confirmed Germany's intent to participate actively in the conference, highlighting the importance his country places on reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
