French, Palestinian Leaders Deliberate on Gaza Ceasefire and Regional Stability

Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron met in Paris with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss bilateral cooperation and avenues for advancing it in a variety of fields. The discussions focused on efforts to secure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensure the flow of humanitarian aid, and facilitate the exchange of hostages and prisoners.

According to Qatar News Agency, the leaders also addressed the completion of the Israeli withdrawal from the enclave. They discussed the responsibilities of the State of Palestine in rebuilding efforts, preventing displacement and annexation, and restoring stability to achieve an end to the occupation. The ultimate goal is to establish a vibrant, democratic, and sovereign Palestinian state based on international legitimacy.

Abbas informed Macron about the Israeli activities in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, highlighting ongoing settlement expansions, acts of settler violence, and intrusions at religious sites.
