GCC and UNCTAD Leaders Discuss Economic Cooperation and Supply Chain Security

Doha: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi and Acting Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Pedro Manuel Moreno met to discuss regional and international developments affecting economic and trade sectors. Key topics included the implications for freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the challenges facing supply chains.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the GCC and UNCTAD, aiming to support and develop relations in all trade and economic fields to serve mutual interests. Discussions also covered joint GCC customs efforts, which play a role in promoting economic integration among member states and highlighted future economic initiatives within the GCC.

Pedro Manuel Moreno praised the GCC's efforts to secure and strengthen supply chains amid the current regional crisis, acknowledging the proactive steps taken by GCC states to address these challenges.
