Post: GCC-EU Summit Postponed Due to Security Concerns

Riyadh:The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has announced the rescheduling of the GCC-EU Summit, which was initially planned to take place in Riyadh on October 24, 2026. The summit will now be held on a date that is yet to be mutually agreed upon by the GCC and European representatives.

According to Qatar News Agency, GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi stated that the decision to postpone the summit was influenced by the ongoing threats from the Houthi group, which has been targeting Saudi Arabia and its civilian infrastructure. This situation, coupled with the prolonged suspension of flight operations at King Khalid International Airport, has raised security and safety concerns for the delegations that were expected to participate.

The Secretary General emphasized the commitment of both the GCC and the European Union (EU) to creating the right conditions for the summit. Their aim is to enhance cooperation across various fields, fostering growth and prosperity for the countries and peoples involved.
