DOHA: GCC Secretary General, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, and Yemeni Prime Minister, Salem Saleh bin Braik, met to discuss the current situation in Yemen, focusing on the humanitarian and living conditions faced by the Yemeni population due to recent developments in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, Albudaiwi emphasized the solidarity of the GCC member states with the Yemeni people during these challenging times. He assured continued support until Yemen restores its security and stability and embarks on a path toward sustainable development. The goal is to ensure that the people of Yemen can live in dignity, peace, and security.
Albudaiwi also reaffirmed the GCC countries' backing of the efforts by the Presidential Leadership Council to promote security and stability in Yemen. He highlighted the GCC's commitment to supporting international and regional efforts, including those by the United Nations, to achieve a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis. This approach aligns with the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and Security Council Resolution 2216.
