Manama:GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi emphasized the importance of energy security at the 31st meeting of the GCC Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee.
According to Qatar News Agency, Albudaiwi highlighted the significance of ensuring continuous energy supply, diversifying export outlets, and maintaining resilient supply chains. He revealed that the GCC's crude oil reserves exceed 518 billion barrels, with natural gas reserves surpassing 44 trillion cubic meters. Additionally, daily crude production reaches over 16 million barrels, while marketed natural gas amounts to 461 billion cubic meters.
Albudaiwi also addressed potential disruptions in transit routes and stressed the need for enhanced regional coordination to secure energy supplies during the transition to balanced energy policies. He advocated for unified GCC efforts to counter cross-border international regulations, aiming to preserve market competitiveness.
