Lisbon: HE Director of the Government Communications Office (GCO) and Chairman of the Permanent Web Summit Qatar Organising Committee, Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani, emphasized Qatar's dedicated efforts to enhance its global presence at the Web Summit Lisbon 2025. This marks the third consecutive year that Qatar has participated in the event, underscoring its commitment to major technology events worldwide.
According to Qatar News Agency, Sheikh Jassim highlighted that Qatar's participation aims to showcase the nation's investment incentives, foster its startup ecosystem, and maintain strategic partnerships within the technology and innovation sectors. This engagement is a pivotal step towards hosting the third Web Summit Qatar, scheduled for February 1-4, 2026, regarded as a significant event for technology and entrepreneurship in the region.
Sheikh Jassim noted that Qatar's participation underscores its commitment to shaping the future of technology and the global digital economy. It also reflects the nation's position as a regional hub for innovation, digital transformation, foreign investments, and global talents in various fields. The delegation comprises over 17 governmental and quasi-governmental agencies, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Investment Authority, and several other key entities.
The summit will facilitate strategic collaborations between Qatari entities and international institutions in technology and entrepreneurship. High-level meetings with global partners and investors, along with workshops highlighting Qatar's investment climate, are part of the agenda. Sheikh Jassim mentioned that Qatar's pavilion, managed by Invest Qatar, will promote the "Start from Qatar" program, highlighting the country's innovation ecosystem and the synergy between public and private sectors.
The pavilion will present investment incentives for startups, showcase successful startup stories, and offer insights into national initiatives in digital transformation and research and development. Sheikh Jassim elaborated on the strategic outcomes Qatar seeks, aiming to strengthen global partnerships in technology and communications, attract high-value investments, and support the Qatar National Vision 2030 to build an innovation-driven society.
He stressed Qatar's dedication to establishing itself as a regional leader in the digital economy, attracting talent and foreign investment, and promoting the upcoming Web Summit Qatar as a premier global event to enhance Doha's status on the innovation stage. This summit also opens new opportunities for entrepreneurs and startups across Qatar and the MENA region.
Speaking to QNA, Sheikh Jassim remarked that Qatar's participation in the Lisbon Summit represents a significant milestone, enhancing its readiness to host the third Web Summit in Doha. The Qatari delegation learned from the latest organizational practices in managing global events and developed new cooperation avenues with technology sector partners.
The Qatari pavilion at the Lisbon Summit serves as an interactive platform reflecting the country's journey in building a digital economy.
