Hamas Responds to US President Trump’s Gaza Ceasefire Proposal

Gaza city: The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced today that it has submitted its response to US President Donald Trump's plan to cease the war in the Gaza Strip to the mediators.

According to Qatar News Agency, the movement revealed in a statement that extensive consultations were held to form a "responsible position" on the US president's plan. This move comes as part of Hamas's desire to end the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has been occurring since October 7, 2023. The statement expressed appreciation for the efforts made by Arab, Islamic, and international entities, as well as President Trump's efforts, which call for an end to the conflict, the exchange of prisoners, the immediate entry of aid, and the rejection of the occupation and displacement in the region.

Hamas emphasized its agreement to the release of all prisoners, both alive and deceased, based on the exchange formula outlined in President Trump's proposal. The movement highlighted its readiness to enter negotiations through mediators to discuss the details of the exchange process.

Furthermore, Hamas reiterated its willingness to transfer the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independent technocrats, which would be founded on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic countries.

The statement also addressed other elements of President Trump's proposal concerning the future of the Gaza Strip and the rights of the Palestinian people. These issues, according to the statement, are linked to a comprehensive national position based on international laws and resolutions. Hamas affirmed its commitment to participating in discussions within a broader Palestinian national framework.
