DOHA – The Doha Round, the second round of the 2021 Diamond League for Athletics, was held on Friday evening at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar SC, with the participation of a large number of Olympic and world champions, in the presence of HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The round achieved great success with the wide participation of the medal holders of the 2019 Doha World Athletics Championships and the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, who compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games from July 23 to August 8.
The Doha round witnessed the achievement of six new world records for 2021, four for men and two for women.
Femi Ogunode of Qatar won the 100m race with 10 seconds to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Chad’s Youssouf Mahamat Goubaye came in second place with 10.26 seconds, followed by Qatar’s Barrow Owaab in third place with 10.46 seconds.
In the High Jump Men competition, Ivanyuk Ilya came in first place with 2.33m followed by Qatar’s Olympic and world champions Mutaz Barshim with 2.30m then Protsenko Andriy of Ukraine with 2.27m.
