Kuwait City: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) news agencies have initiated an innovative unified application on a pilot basis, designed to enhance media integration across the GCC states.
According to Qatar News Agency, the application includes numerous features that leverage artificial intelligence technologies to improve the quality and speed of news transmission, providing users with a unique experience in following events. The launch was attended by the GCC Secretary-General and was a significant highlight at the 28th meeting of Their Excellencies the GCC Ministers of Information, held in the State of Kuwait.
HE Director-General of Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi, emphasized the project’s importance for Gulf media integration, noting that it enhances cooperation between news agencies in the GCC countries. This initiative aims to serve the media message of Gulf news agencies and represents a qualitative leap in the field of Gulf media. Al Rumaihi expressed hopes that the application would strengthen cooperation and deliver distinguished media content, aligning with public aspirations and reflecting technological advancements in Gulf media.
The application, which supports both Arabic and English, aggregates news from GCC countries into a single platform to facilitate access to official information. It also broadcasts news bulletins, official television and radio channels, and newspapers. Additionally, it features a virtual assistant capable of fulfilling various report and news requests, providing followers with reliable sources for regional and international events.
HE Secretary-General of the GCC, Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, praised the app as a pioneering project that embodies cooperation and integration within the Gulf region. He highlighted the app’s use of the latest technologies and artificial intelligence, offering direct access to official news from GCC’s agencies to both regional and global audiences.
HE Minister of Information and Culture of Kuwait, Abdulrahman Al Mutairi, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the app’s role in strengthening collective Gulf media efforts and unifying the delivery of reliable information. He also acknowledged the project’s reflection of the GCC countries’ commitment to technological advancement, which serves their people’s aspirations and bolsters Gulf media’s presence on the regional and global stage.
The Kuwaiti Minister extended his gratitude to the State of Qatar, acknowledging the contributions of HE Chairman of the Qatar Media Corporation, Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al-Thani, and praised Qatar’s previous presidency for its dedication to supporting joint efforts across various fields.
