Interior Ministry Warns Against Misuse of Emergency Alert Sounds

Doha: The Ministry of Interior has warned against playing or circulating audio or video clips that mimic the National Emergency Alert System, including using such tones as mobile ringtones in public or private settings, citing risks of causing panic and disturbing public order. In a statement posted on its official account on X, the ministry stressed the importance of public responsibility and adherence to regulations, noting that misuse of emergency alert tones constitutes a legal offense subject to accountability. Authorities also urged the public to report violations by calling 999.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry emphasized that these sounds are designed solely for critical situations where immediate public awareness and response are necessary. The misuse of such tones could lead to unnecessary confusion and strain on emergency services. The ministry's statement highlighted the potential for chaos if such alerts are falsely triggered, underlining the importance of maintaining the integrity of emergency communication channels.
