Iran Announces New Round of Nuclear Talks with European Troika

TEHRAN: Tehran announced Wednesday that a new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the European Troika will be held in Geneva. The discussions are set to take place on January 13 and are being framed as consultations rather than formal negotiations, according to Iranian officials.

According to Qatar News Agency, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, emphasized that the interactions with the European Troika-comprising France, Germany, and Britain-are intended to be consultative in nature. This announcement follows a previous round of talks held last November, indicating ongoing diplomatic efforts to address concerns surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.

The negotiations with the European Troika have been part of broader international efforts to ensure that Iran’s nuclear activities remain peaceful. The upcoming meeting in Geneva signifies continued engagement between Iran and key European nations, despite the complexities and challenges inherent in the discussions.

The context of these talks is set against a backdrop of heightened international scrutiny over Iran’s nuclear activities. The European Troika has been actively involved in mediating discussions aimed at finding a diplomatic resolution to the concerns raised by various international stakeholders.
