Iraq, Iran Sign MoU to Develop Joint Security Agreement

Doha: Iraq and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) Monday to develop the security agreement between the two countries. Iraqi government spokesman Bassem Al Awadi stated that the MoU was signed by Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim Al Araji and Secretary-General of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani. This agreement aims to enhance the previous security cooperation between Iraq and Iran.

According to Qatar News Agency, the MoU focuses on strengthening joint border security and intelligence cooperation between the two countries. It also emphasizes preventing infiltration and supporting joint border protection measures to serve the security interests of both nations. The collaboration is intended to bolster the defenses of both countries against potential threats and to ensure a more secure border region.
