Iraq: Iraq revealed Friday that foreign-manufactured drones targeted radar systems at military bases last month, without revealing the identity of the parties responsible for these attacks.
According to Qatar News Agency, Sabah al Numan, spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, stated that investigations have traced the origin of the drones used in these attacks. The drones, equipped with warheads of varying weights, were confirmed to be manufactured outside Iraq.
Al Numan further disclosed that these drones were launched from specific locations within Iraqi territories. Authorities have also identified the parties responsible for executing and coordinating these hostile operations, although their identities remain undisclosed.
He emphasized that all the suicide drones used in the attacks were of the same type, indicating that the perpetrators are linked to a single party. The Iraqi authorities are determined to take legal action against those involved and ensure their referral to the Iraqi judiciary. Al Numan underscored that no internal or external entity would be permitted to compromise Iraq's security and stability.
The drone attacks, which took place on June 24, prompted Baghdad authorities to launch an investigation. The nighttime assaults targeted military sites and bases, damaging radar systems at locations such as the Taji camp north of the capital and the Imam Ali Air Base in Nasiriyah.
