Doha: The Israeli occupation authorities have issued a military order to seize 2,224 dunams (2,224 square meters) of land from the village of Marda in Salfit, located in the occupied West Bank, citing "military purposes" as the reason for the acquisition.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission (CWRC) stated that the military order affects lands from Basin No. 3 of Marda, specifically in the areas of 'Wadi Qasim' and 'Kafif Al Abhar.' The order mandates the transfer of the specified land's ownership to the commander of the occupation army, facilitated through the official responsible for the affairs of the army's ministry.
The CWRC highlighted that the maps accompanying the military order indicate the land's strategic position south of Route 505, near the intersection of a local road that leads north to the settlement of Ariel. This location lies approximately midway between Marda and Jammain, making it significant for overseeing and controlling movement in the vicinity. The seizure aims to construct a tower facility for collection and communications, as outlined in the military order's details.
The commission noted that this military order is part of a broader pattern of the occupation authorities utilizing 'seizure orders for military purposes' to temporarily take over Palestinian lands and reorganize control over key axes, roads, and sites adjacent to settlements.
