Italian Prime Minister’s Visit to Doha Highlights Solidarity and Support for Qatar

Doha: HE Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the State of Qatar, Paolo Toschi, affirmed that the visit of HE Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, to the State of Qatar aimed to show support, solidarity, and friendship.

According to Qatar News Agency, this visit marks the first by a leader from one of the largest global economies and the first by a G20 country to the Gulf region since the onset of the current conflict.

His Excellency stated that the visit demonstrates Italy's commitment to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, particularly Qatar. Italy continues to support Qatar's defense activities and condemns Iranian attacks on Gulf countries. The Italian government has consistently opposed attacks targeting civilian areas.

Ambassador Toschi highlighted the growing bilateral relations between Qatar and Italy, which extend across sectors such as politics, defense, military affairs, and energy. He noted the expansion into future-focused areas like education, direct investments, and more.

Italy remains dedicated to partnering with Qatar to enhance its security systems, spanning defense, infrastructure, food, and cyber security, as well as advanced technology. In terms of energy security, the Ambassador emphasized the strategic partnership between Qatar and Italy, underscoring Italy's commitment to ongoing collaboration to secure energy resources regionally and internationally.
