Post: Japan adopts policy against fully autonomous lethal weapons

Tokyo, The Japanese government has adopted a policy against the development of fully autonomous lethal weapons, stressing that such weapons should never be allowed globally. A Japanese Foreign Ministry official stated that Japan submitted a paper to the United Nations in May, emphasising the need to maintain a human-centric approach and the responsible use of emerging technologies. Japan currently believes there are no guarantees that autonomous lethal weapon systems would comply with international humanitarian laws, and that there is no intention of developing such weapons.
