Doha: Japan's Ai Ogura secured pole position for the Czech Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship, which began yesterday and concludes on Sunday at the Brno circuit. This marks Ogura's first career victory in the qualifying round, achieved after he broke the Brno circuit lap record with a time of 1:51.139.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ogura outpaced Italy's Fabio Di Giannantonio, who finished second, trailing by 0.211 seconds. Francesco Bagnaia, also from Italy, secured the third position, 0.244 seconds off Ogura's pace. Marco Bezzecchi, another Italian contender, qualified fourth, 0.289 seconds behind. Spain's Marc Marquez, the reigning champion at the Brno circuit, will start in fifth position after qualifying 0.297 seconds behind Ogura.
This achievement not only marks Ogura's first pole position but also his first front-row start in any capacity, positioning him as a strong contender for the title in the upcoming race.
