Amman: Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has held talks in Amman with Takeshi Okubo, the Japanese Foreign Ministry's special assistant overseeing Gaza reconstruction, as regional diplomacy intensifies around the fragile ceasefire in the Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, Safadi stressed the need for collective efforts to uphold the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and ensure its full implementation. He urged all parties to facilitate the immediate and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, who remain in urgent need as the conflict's humanitarian toll grows.
Safadi also called for progress toward the second phase of the ceasefire deal, including reconstruction plans for Gaza, and linked long-term stability to the revival of a credible political horizon aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution.
He praised Japan's ongoing support for humanitarian operations in Gaza and noted the close coordination between Tokyo and Amman within broader international efforts to halt what he described as a worsening humanitarian catastrophe.
Okubo is visiting Jordan as part of Japan's wider diplomatic engagement in the region, with Tokyo positioning itself as a key contributor to post-conflict recovery in Gaza.
