Doha: King Abdullah II of Jordan and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East during a telephone call today.
According to Qatar News Agency, King Abdullah II emphasized the necessity of halting Iranian attacks against Arab states, highlighting Jordan's commitment to taking all necessary measures to protect its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens.
The discussions between the two leaders also covered the concerning developments in the occupied West Bank and the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. King Abdullah cautioned against taking advantage of the regional unrest to establish a new status quo in the Palestinian territories and reiterated the importance of preventing further escalation.
