Jordan, Turkiye Agree on Mechanisms to Enhance Bilateral Economic Cooperation

Doha: Jordan and Turkiye have agreed on mechanisms to enhance bilateral economic cooperation across various sectors, increase mutual trade, and promote investments. This agreement was reached during the Jordanian-Turkish Joint Economic Committee's meetings in Amman, co-chaired by Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah and Turkish Minister of Trade Omer Bolat.

According to Qatar News Agency, the committee reached a series of understandings aimed at strengthening economic cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, regional cooperation, free zones, customs, industry, agriculture, industrial zones, small and medium enterprises, and the exchange of expertise, among others.

Commenting on this, the Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply stated that the meeting reflects the mutual desire to strengthen joint economic cooperation and provides a framework for expanding trade and investment between Jordan and Turkiye. Qudah pointed to the positive indicator of bilateral trade increasing by 10 percent in the period from January to July this year, compared to the same period last year.

For his part, the Turkish Trade Minister stressed the importance of reaching understandings and agreements that would lead to a higher level of trade exchange and encourage the private sectors in both countries to take advantage of available investment and trade opportunities.
