Jordan’s Education Minister Highlights Qatar’s Role in Global Educational Development


Doha: Jordan’s Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research, Azmy Mahafzah, emphasized that Qatar has initiated significant educational projects that have positively impacted educational systems in various countries. These efforts extend beyond education, contributing to advancements in multiple fields and enhancing overall conditions.



According to Qatar News Agency, Mahafzah praised Qatar’s educational sector, noting its remarkable progress in recent years. He confirmed that the initiatives are making meaningful strides in the right direction. The minister discussed his participation in the 14th ALECSO Conference of Arab Ministers of Education in Doha, which focuses on crucial educational topics like comprehensive education, teacher empowerment, inclusive education, Arabic language promotion, and curriculum development.



He highlighted the importance of documents presented at the conference, which reflect the experiences of education specialists and serve as a roadmap for countries aiming to reform their educational systems. The conference also tackles issues like learning poverty, education during crises, and the digitization of education, emphasizing the global priority of digital transformation and the integration of technology and artificial intelligence.



The minister underscored education as a vital future investment and economic empowerment tool, appreciating Qatar’s efforts in hosting the conference. He also discussed the need for enhancing vocational and technical education to better prepare students for the labor market, mentioning Jordan’s technical vocational education program (BTEC) designed to equip students with practical skills.



Mahafzah stressed the importance of transforming education to meet labor market demands, stating that successful countries are those that educate and skill their populations effectively. He noted that Jordan is progressing in integrating technology into education, working on infrastructure development, educational platforms, curriculum digitization, and teacher training in modern technology.



In conclusion, Mahafzah highlighted the necessity of investing in technology to manage the educational process effectively. He stated that digital transformation is a priority, with ongoing efforts to leverage it for educational reform.
