DOHA: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, has unveiled an art exhibition titled “City of Memories,” crafted by Bangladeshi artist Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed. The exhibition’s opening ceremony was graced by Saif Saad Al Dosari, Deputy General Manager and Director of Human Resources at Katara; HE Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar; and a contingent of ambassadors and diplomatic mission representatives.
According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibition, located in Building 47, offers an immersive experience that transports visitors to the heart of Old Dhaka, showcasing its rich heritage and culture through contemporary artworks. Running until January 7, the exhibition reflects Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed’s personal experiences living in Old Dhaka, a historical area founded in the 15th century. Through his art, Ahmed highlights the deep connection between residents and their architectural surroundings, reviving the communal spirit characterized by harmony and integration.

rul Islam noted that the exhibition is a collaborative effort between Katara and the Bangladeshi embassy, marking the celebration of 50 years of friendly relations between Bangladesh and Qatar. He emphasized that the exhibition underscores the profound cultural ties between the two nations. His Excellency also expressed gratitude to Katara for its ongoing support in fostering cultural exchange, lauding it as a leading global platform that unites cultures and arts worldwide. He described the exhibition not only as a celebration of artistic creativity but also as a significant human message highlighting the strong connections between heritage and society.
Artist Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed shared that the artworks draw inspiration from his childhood memories and daily life in Old Dhaka, creating a harmonious blend that captures the city’s rhythm, music, scents, and textures.
