Post: Katara Opens Applications for 10th Quran Recitation Award

Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has opened applications for the 10th Holy Quran Recitation Award under the motto of amplifying beautiful recitation voices. Submissions will commence on Monday, August 3, with a deadline set for September 30, 2026.

According to Qatar News Agency, the award aims to encourage and discover exceptional talents in Quranic reading and recitation. It seeks to identify the most melodious voices and honor outstanding readers by adhering to the rules of Tajweed. The competition also aims to recognize distinguished and creative reciters.

The judging panel for the award comprises three experts in Quranic readings and Tajweed rules, along with three specialists in maqamat, vocal quality, and melody. As part of the award, Katara will produce and release a complete audio recording of the Quran recited by the first-place winner at Katara Studios.

The total prize pool for the award is QAR 800,000. The first-place winner will receive QAR 500,000, the second-place winner will receive QAR 200,000, and the third-place winner will receive QAR 100,000. The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has been the official sponsor of the award since its inception in 2017.
