BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army has received a second shipment of fuel from the Qatar Fund for Development, underscoring international efforts to support Lebanon’s military amid the country’s ongoing economic challenges. The fuel delivery is part of a broader initiative aimed at reinforcing the army’s operational capabilities as it faces mounting security issues.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari assistance is designed to enhance the Lebanese army’s ability to address increasing security challenges while ensuring the continuity of its vital operations. The support comes at a crucial time, as Lebanon grapples with significant economic difficulties that threaten the army’s operational effectiveness.
On September 17, the Qatar Fund for Development announced a financial grant of $15 million, earmarked specifically to provide the Lebanese army with fuel over a three-month period. This latest provision follows a similar initiative last year, in which the Lebanese army received a six-month fuel supply valued at
$30 million.
The ongoing support from the Qatar Fund for Development highlights the importance of regional cooperation in maintaining stability and security within Lebanon, a country currently facing a myriad of socio-economic challenges.
