Beirut: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the region in a phone call today with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. During the call, Aoun emphasized the need to halt Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory through a comprehensive ceasefire. Beirut authorities view this ceasefire as a crucial element for the progress of the Lebanese-Israeli negotiations scheduled to occur in Washington next week under US mediation. These negotiations aim to restore Lebanon's security and stability and ensure its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to Qatar News Agency, Rubio affirmed the United States' support for Lebanon and its commitment to working towards achieving security and stability in the country. He emphasized the extension of state authority over all Lebanese territory and the support for its legitimate security and military institutions, with a particular focus on the army.
