BEIRUT: Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri held separate meetings with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot and General Jasper Jeffers, head of the multinational monitoring committee, to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon and the region. The meetings took place during the officials’ current visit to Beirut.
According to Qatar News Agency, Berri and Barrot engaged in discussions covering the overall situation in Lebanon and the broader region, as well as bilateral relations between Lebanon and France. The dialogues aim to strengthen cooperation between the two nations amid ongoing regional challenges.
In his meeting with General Jeffers, Berri addressed the current conditions on the ground, particularly in light of Israel’s continued violations of the ceasefire agreement announced on November 27. The discussion focused on the series of incursions and both air and ground violations by Israel in southern Lebanon and other areas, which have been a source of tension in the region.
