Magnitude 4.8 Earthquake Strikes Russian Town of Mago

Mago: An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck the town of Mago, in the Khabarovsk region of Russia.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake struck at a depth of 13 kilometers, 68 kilometers southwest of Mago.

Various parts of Russia, including the Kuril Islands, regularly experience earthquakes and tremors because they lie in areas where several tectonic plates converge, causing frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
