Meta: Meta has announced that it will make the Instagram for TV app available on Samsung smart TVs, along with a range of new features specifically designed for group viewing indoors.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Instagram TV application has become available across three major TV platforms connected to the Internet, following its previous launch for Amazon Fire TV devices in December 2025 and for Google TV devices in February 2026.
The update includes Samsung smart TVs released from 2020 onwards, featuring new additions aimed at enhancing content discovery and viewing on large screens. Meta is currently experimenting with channels based on user interests, categorizing Reels into specific themes such as comedy, sports, or favorite creators' content, to facilitate quicker access to relevant material. Users now have the capability to send Reels directly from their phones to the TV screen, including clips saved under the Saved tab, a feature that was previously available on Fire TV and Google TV.
As part of Meta's initiative to adapt Instagram for large screens, the company is testing a dedicated space for horizontal video clips, acknowledging that vertical content made for smartphones may not always suit television viewing.
Meta is also investigating new content formats, such as long-form videos and multi-episode series created by content creators, along with the "Live Broadcast on TV" feature. This feature might enable users to watch content creators' live broadcasts on televisions for the first time.
This strategy stems from the "Series" feature that Meta began testing via the smartphone application in early June, allowing content creators to organize Reels clips into interconnected episodes within a dedicated space for each series. Meta has yet to announce an official launch date for these features, confirming its ongoing collaboration with content creators to determine optimal formats for large screens in contrast to smartphones.
