Meteorology Department Warns of Strong Winds and High Seas Nationwide

Doha: The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning for strong winds across the country, both inshore and offshore, along with high seas offshore.

According to Qatar News Agency, the department's daily weather report forecasts relatively hot to hot conditions inshore until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, with slight dust in some areas and intermittent cloud cover. Offshore conditions are expected to be partly cloudy at times, prompting caution for those planning activities at sea.

Inshore winds are predicted to be northwesterly at 10-20 knots (KT), with gusts reaching up to 28 KT during the day. Offshore, the winds will also be northwesterly at 15-23 KT, with potential gusts of up to 30 KT at times, increasing risks for maritime operations.

Sea conditions inshore are anticipated to range between 3 and 5 feet, while offshore seas will range from 4 to 7 feet, rising to 10 feet at certain times. This significant rise in sea levels may affect fishing and transportation activities.

Visibility inshore is expected to range between 4 and 9 km, while offshore visibility will range from 5 to 9 km. Mariners and commuters are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and heed any safety warnings issued by authorities.
