Minister of Transport Engages with Global Maritime Leaders

Doha: HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Thani engaged in high-level discussions with HE Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Arsenio Dominguez during the Seatrade Maritime Qatar Conference and Exhibition. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Qatar and the IMO, with particular emphasis on marine environment protection and advancing Qatar's maritime transport industry. The positive role of Qatar in the IMO's Executive Council under Category "C" was also highlighted.

According to Qatar News Agency, on the sidelines of the conference, the Minister held separate meetings with several international maritime officials. These included HE Director General of Kuwait Ports Authority Sheikh Khaled Salem Abdulaziz Al Sabah, HE Undersecretary for Ports and Maritime Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications of Bahrain Bader Hood Al Mahmood, and HE Advisor to the Minister for Maritime Transport and Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE Eng. Hessa Ahmed Hamdan Al Malek. Further meetings took place with HE Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistic Services of Saudi Arabia Dr. Rumaih bin Mohamed Al Rumaih, and HE Deputy Minister of Shipping of Cyprus Marina Hadjimanolis.

The discussions with these officials centered on enhancing bilateral relations in maritime transport services and activities. Additionally, the meetings addressed recent advancements in sustainable and environmentally friendly maritime transport, reflecting a shared commitment to ecological stewardship and innovation in the sector.
