Doha: HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al-Thani: HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al-Thani inaugurated the Turquoise Line of the Lusail Tram Network on Monday, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the public transport system in the City and support its strategy of developing a modern and sustainable public transportation network. HE Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) Dr. Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Turki Al Subaie attended the inauguration.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al-Thani expressed satisfaction with the commencement of operations for the Turquoise Line. He emphasized that this development aligns with the Ministry’s plans to provide an integrated and environmentally friendly public transportation system utilizing the latest technological advancements and sustainable practices. The operation of the Turquoise Line is expected to offer safe and reliable transportation services for residents and visitors of Lusail City throughout the year, facilitating access to key destinations within the city.
The operational Turquoise Line stations include Lusail QNB, Al Yasmeen, Fox Hills – South, Downtown Lusail, Al Khayl Street, Fox Hills – North, Crescent Park – North, Rawdat Lusail, Erkiyah, and Lusail Stadium. The Grand Masjed station will become operational at a later date, with an announcement pending.
The Turquoise and Orange Lines have nine shared stations, including Al Yasmeen, Fox Hills – South, Downtown Lusail, Al Khayl Street, Fox Hills – North, Crescent Park – North, Rawdat Lusail, Erkiyah, and Lusail Stadium. These shared stations offer convenient access to key destinations such as Crescent Park and Lusail Boulevard.
The tram network operates daily from 5:00 AM to 1:30 AM on weekdays, except on Fridays from 2:00 PM to 1:30 AM. The Lusail Tram network spans 19 kilometers, comprising 25 stations across four lines: Orange, Pink, Purple, and Turquoise. It covers key destinations in Lusail City, including government offices, residential towers, sports facilities, and the marina area.
Qatar Rail initially launched preview services for the Lusail Tram in early 2022, starting with seven stations on the Orange Line. The network expanded further in April 2024 with the launch of the Pink Line and the full operation of all Orange Line stations.
